Every summer I'm always amazed at the number of cars you see in the Highlands bearing the NL sign. It seems at times that every 4th or 5th car is from the Netherlands. Well I've finally found out why - they're all Munro Bagging.
Doing a Google search the other night I spotted an entry in Dutch which seemed to mention the Munros. Out of curiosity I clicked on it to find this site - Nederlandse Munroïsten & Munrobaggers, Buitensport-Schotland.nl It's devoted to people based in the Netherlands who come to Scotland Munro bagging. I've always thought it a tremendous feat for anyone living in England to find time to get here to climb them all, but to do it from the Netherlands is incredible. According to the site there are three Dutch 'compleaters' and many more with a respectable tally - several also have web sites about their hobby which are worth a visit.
Doing another search I found that the Angry Corrie had run an article about this which I'd missed - it's also worth a look and I loved the headline they used - From Benelux to Beinn na Lap
